Pune … Power management company Eaton today announced the release of its India Sustainability Metrics Report for 2016. The report summarizes Eaton’s sustainability efforts in India, providing key metrics and an overview of initiatives for its employees, the environment and the community. This report covers the operations owned and managed by Eaton in India for the year 2015 and 2016.
The report was released at Eaton’s Professional Services Center in Pune by Harrold Jones, senior vice president – Environment, Health and Safety (EHS), Eaton and Joyce Wu, director – EHS, Asia Pacific, Eaton.
Speaking at the occasion, Jones commented, “Eaton’s commitment to sustainability is further strengthened by our new vision that focuses on improving the quality of life and the environment. Being active stewards of the environment and building stronger communities is ingrained in our aspirational goals, which are just as important as our financial and business goals.
“Eaton has been reporting out its sustainability metrics in India since 2014, and this report is a reaffirmation of Eaton’s long history of helping the world build a more sustainable future through its products and solutions, practices and people,” Jones said.
The report includes metrics ranging from employee safety, environmental impact of operations, statistics about talent diversity, training and development as well as strategic investments and collaborations for building stronger communities.
Commenting on the report, Nitin Chalke, managing director – India, Eaton said, “With a strong focus on achieving key strategic goals in the country, Eaton has significantly strengthened its footprint in India. The metrics in the report show a 56% reduction in total recordable case rates (TRCR), a 2% reduction in greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and 25% reduction in waste to landfill as compared to the previous year. The report also includes an overview of focused CSR programs and initiatives in the areas of education, health and environment undertaken by Eaton in India – stating a total annual CSR spend of Rs. 3.26 crores in the year 2016.
